Registration for hunting predator animals
To participate in licensed hunting of lynx, wolf or wolverine, you are to register with the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s Hunter Registry.
Those participating in a licensed hunt for lynx, wolf or wolverine are to register with the Hunter Registry before starting to hunt. This is described in Section 49 of the Hunting Ordinance. Registration with the Hunter Registry is not required for bear hunting.

You can register with the Hunter Registry in three ways:
- Log in to the Hunter Registry (you will find login options via the link).
- Call the Swedish EPA’s customer service: +46 (0)10-698 17 00 (enter your Swedish national registration number).
- Call interactive voice response – +46 (0)771-18 34 11 – and follow the instructions (normal calling costs apply. Use the keypad on your phone to make a selection).
You will not receive a confirmation of your registration regardless of the method you use to register. You can check your registration by logging in to the Hunter Registry.
The large predators are strictly protected. The EU Species and Habitats Directive (92/43 / EEC) sets out the possibilities for hunting large predators.
Large predators may be hunted only when this has been specifically authorised by the Swedish EPA or the County Administrative Board. Being registered as a wolf, wolverine or lynx hunter does not mean a general right to hunt the animal in question.
