Species Protection
Last reviewed: 12 June 2024
If a species disappears, it can have consequences that we cannot predict today.
Not all species may immediately appear beneficial to humans, but the species do affect and depend on each other. The species and their habitats constitute the biological diversity that is vital to us humans.
More species than ever are going extinct and many ecosystems are changing due to the way humans live. When we destroy habitats for animals and plants, we destroy biodiversity and risk what nature gives us and on which we depend.
Species protection consists of laws and measures that society has decided on to protect and benefit species that in some way are threatened by human activities.
