How to apply for type approval

Applications for trap type approval are to be submitted to the Swedish EPA by email (registrator@naturvardsverket.se). On this page you find a application form indicating which information that must be included.

Documents to attach with the application

The following appendices must be attached to the application:

  • Photo and drawing of the trap in its entirety, also from the inside with the construction of the trigger device. Photos / drawings must be of high quality.
  • A material and construction specification according to the specification attached below. Use the specialist terms accepted by the specialist trade in the specification.
  • User-friendly instructions on how to handle and set the trap to ensure the selectivity and safety of the trap

The following must be attached to the application, if applicable:

  • Documentation of completed tests in accordance with the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's regulations (NFS 2013: 13) on type approval of traps.

You must also be able to provide a number of examples of the trap.

Information to provide when applying

In the application form you have to provide information regarding:

  • Information about the applicant and the manufacturer, such as name, social security number, adress, phone, email address;
  • which species or species the trap will be used for and how the selectivity is ensured;
  • how it is ensured that the trap does not cause unnecessary suffering;
  • how the safety of humans and domestic animals has been taken care of;
  • under which circumstances the trap will be used;
  • where on the trap the users phonenumber and name will be;
  • functionality, mateiral used and measurements.

Fee and processing time

The application fee is SEK 2,900 and an invoice is issued after the application has been received. Provided that the application is complete, the normal processing time is about 6–8 weeks.
