Ecological compensation

When compensating for exploited green space in urban areas, the results show that accessibility is the most important factor in the determination of the recreational value, or more specifically, how many people that live near or pass by the green space on the way to school, work, etc. Although there are differences among different groups in society, regarding how often they visit a green space, these differences are small in relation to the importance of accessibility (distance) in the calculation of recreational values. We show that there will be winners and losers in the case of a spatial relocation of compensatory measures.
