Extended Producer Responsibility is a widely used environmental policy in which the producer’s responsibility for a product is extended to the postconsumer stage of a product’s life cycle. There are currently EPR schemes for seven product groups in Sweden that include packaging, newsprint, electric and electronic equipment, batteries, tyres, end-of-life vehicles and pharmaceuticals.
This report was produced to give an overview of the Swedish EPR schemes, to describe how they have developed over time and how they are currently organized and function.
